AN SCREAM BREAKS THE SILENCE

A bloodcurdling yell shattered the heavy silence. It echoed through the abandoned hall, causing goosebumps to rise on my arms. A heart hammered inside my chest as I attempted to determine the origin of the terrifying sound. Was it human? Or was my imagination playing amuck in the dim stillness? I waited frozen in apprehension, struggling to move.
